Lithuanian fashion designer and silk artist Rosita, creates vibrant pieces which flow around the wearer. During The Trail Rosita will be demonstrating her creative silk-painting process on a garment currently in production. She is also looking forward to talking about her process and exhibitions at her pop-up open studio at Portomaso Business Tower in St Julian’s.
Rosita caters for a particular niche in fashion – hand painted, singular silk apparel for those seeking a totally originally and exclusive piece of wearable art. Lithuania is a country of long cold periods followed by warmer months that herald a dazzling spectacle of vibrant colours. Rosita merges her dress-design skills with the centuries-old art of nature-inspired silk painting. Whether applying her paint by brush or the centuries-old traditions of the Shibori and Batik techniques, Rosita creates beautiful and colourful artistic expressions which make the audacious wearer stand out in a crowd.
Rosita made her Malta debut in 2013 in the artisan sector, and in 2016 her silk creations won the prestigious Premju Gieh l-Artigjanat Malti 2016 Award for Most Innovative Product.
In 2016, Rosita presented her first ‘Joie de vivre’ fashion collection at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Malta at Fort St. Angelo. She is now a regular participant at this event, presenting a new array of Mediterranean-inspired, colourful silk kaftans and couture with her singular, unique style every year.
