Kathleen Bulteel

Kathleen harbours a love for photography, illustration and advertising, working with both traditional and digital media. During The Trail she will be demonstrating her creative digital process, and explaining how she works. She aspires to create content which captures meaningful moments and exposes the beauty people often overlook.

In her collection Bridging Realities, Kathleen explores Simon Bartolo’s dystopian novel Deformity, through a series of interpretive artworks. Loaded with elements of Surrealism and Dada, Kathleen uses collage in traditional and digital media to juxtapose illustrative fiction with photographic fact. The resultant pieces are designed to intrigue and are open to interpretation by the viewer.

Kathleen’s art intricately combines delicate monotone elements with overlaid gently-coloured objects. They could be seen as nonsensical or satirical, and they’re certainly thought-provoking. You can’t help but wonder about the artist’s thought process. It will be fascinating to hear about the reasoning behind each picture during Allura – The Trail.” says art writer Esther Lafferty.
